Return From Hiatus – What’s New with DLR:
Digital Life Radio will be adding even more great giveaways and a top secret new segment of the website is currently in the works. Jake has finally upgraded to Windows Vista and has begun to take advantage of even more mobile technology through his iPhone. After doing their best to fix some issues with Jordan’s old computer, Apple has given him a brand new MacBook Pro!..A full review of the product will be featured in a future episode.

- Some interesting rumors are swirling about the 3rd generation iPhone: faster hardware, video recording, dumping AT&T for Verizon? Source Engadget.com and Business Week

- Google Chrome 2 doesn’t offer much more than its predecessor; looks great, fast and safe, but a little glitchy with no plug-ins
Movie Review – Terminator Salvation:
Jordan and Jake provide a quick overview of the last few Terminator films for anyone who might have missed them. They’re upset to see the film getting bad reviews online, but insist that this movie is for the true Terminator fans, not the snooty film critics. This newest installment delivers everything that the real fans will want; great graphics, great soundtrack, and lots of cool new robots. Overall, the film will be great for Terminator fans; others are advised to see the first 3 before making any harsh judgments.
Tech Review – Flip Ultra HD:
Jordan has been using the Flip Ultra HD and finds it to be a great portable digital camera similar to the other Flip products reviewed in previous episodes. It’s inexpensive, very easy to use, and it offers 1280 x 720 resolution, 720p HD quality, and an 8 GB flash drive (2 hours of video). This camera has some features that make it more convenient than other Flip products like it’s HDMI output and the use of AA batteries instead of a battery pack, but it’s a bit bigger which takes away from its portability. Aside from it’s lack of video stabilization, the Flip Ultra HD is a great buy for only $195 dollars.
Tech Discussion – Will The Kindle DX Relieve Students of Their Heavy Textbooks?:
The new Kindle DX from Amazon has upped the ante with a 9.7 inch screen, the ability to read PDF’s, and enough memory to hold 3500 eBooks. Jordan and Jake discuss whether textbook publishers will be eager to jump on the eBook band wagon or will they drag their feet on this one. This new technology would make student’s lives much easier, but the $489 investment would only be worth it if electronic textbooks were much cheaper than paper versions. If the publishers can accept a hit to their bank accounts, then it seems education could be headed for a much needed upgrade.
Tech Discussion – Vimeo, A More Refined YouTube?:
Jake has been checking out an HD video hosting site called Vimeo, that seems to be a bit classier than YouTube. Instead of catering to absolutely everyone, Vimeo is for the more serious film maker. You can find short indie films and other high quality content instead of celebrity gossip and viral videos. The great thing about Vimeo is the HD quality; Jake uses it for all the video he posts on his site JakeBrown.tv. Just like YouTube, Vimeo is community-oriented, so you can follow other film makers, comment on videos, and find recommendations.
